Your Downy TotalCare bottle cap has three fill lines. Fill to lines marked as TC.
 
Lower line — for medium loads
Middle line — for large loads or front loading HE machine medium loads
Upper line  — for extra large loads or front loading HE machine large loads

Q.What are the benefits of Downy TotalCare?

A.Downy TotalCare is our innovative fabric softener that softens and conditions, while also providing Color & Shape protection to help keep clothes looking newer, longer.

Q.What is Color & Shape protection?

A.Downy TotalCare contains a protective fiber complex that seeks out and neutralizes chlorine in your water, fighting its fading impact on fabrics to help keep colors bright. It also acts as a lubricant between the fibers of your fabrics, reducing rough surfaces and helping to prevent stretching.

Q.When should I add Downy TotalCare to my washer?

A.When you add Downy TotalCare depends a great deal on your washer type. These days, fabric softener is easier to use than ever:

• Regular machines — With regular machines, add Downy TotalCare to your washer drum during the rinse cycle. Or for added convenience, try the Downy Ball®, our easy-to-use dispenser. Click here to learn more about the Downy Ball.
  
• HE machines — With HE machines, you have a built-in, automatic solution. Simply add Downy Total Care to the fabric-softener tray (often right next to the detergent tray) before each load.

Q.Do I have to pair Downy TotalCare with Tide TotalCare?

A.You don’t have to pair Downy TotalCare with Tide TotalCare to experience the benefits, but when used together, you can help keep fabrics looking beautiful even after 50 washes!

Q.Does Downy TotalCare come in dryer sheets?

A.Downy TotalCare does not currently come in sheets. And while there are no current plans to design sheets, we’ll be sure to keep you informed of any innovations for the TotalCare line.

Q.Will Downy TotalCare irritate my skin or cause allergic reactions?

A.Downy TotalCare should not irritate skin or cause allergic reactions for most people. However if you find yourself affected, we do have a dermatologist-tested Downy that’s free of dyes and perfumes. Learn more about Ultra Downy Free & Sensitive.

Q.Does Downy TotalCare affect the drying time of fabrics?

A.Nope, your dryer settings are the only thing that should affect drying time. Try upping the spin cycle of your machine if your laundry is drying too slowly.

Q.Will Downy TotalCare stain my fabrics?

A.All fabric softeners do run a small risk of staining. To prevent staining, be sure not to pour undiluted fabric softener directly onto fabrics. Here are some ways to remove fabric softener stains if they do occur:

• Non-washable fibers  — Dampen the stain with water and rub gently with bar soap (avoid deodorant soap) or a liquid laundry detergent like Tide. Rinse thoroughly, and then blot excess liquid and allow to dry.
  
• Washable fibers  — Again, dampen the stain with water and rub gently with bar soap (avoid deodorant soap) or a liquid laundry detergent like Tide. Rinse thoroughly, and then send fabrics through the wash again.
