Fishes & Cats

Serafina has been hospitalized since her reconstructive foot surgery (left and right feet). After her recovery, we were sent to rehab. We left after approximately 2 weeks to go home and continue healing. Then the casts came off and rods removed from feet and the word came out that we would have to return to rehab and stay again! That wasn't so bad as the entire rehab staff, housekeeping, and security are all so kind. But the rehab is not home with friends, relatives, neighbors and pets. So when Serafina received her "Quilt for Kids" quilt, I was glad she had something bright and cherry-soft and comforting with her. After the photos, when we were alone, we took the time to look at her quilt with fishes and cats. That night, when she went to bed and said her prayers, she looked at me and said, "home at last". I know that meant she felt safe and comfortable. Thank You, Quilts for Kids - you make a big difference in healing and support, and thank you Downy team for your help. Serafina is an 18 year-old girl with Down Syndrome who loves music, dancing and yes: having her picture taken. :)
