"Bring Back the "Original" April Fresh Scent" November 01,2009
"Since the addition of the new Scent Pearls, the April Fresh Downy upon which I was raised, and which I've used since I started making my own purchasing decisions, seems to be gone, possibly forever. I bought several different bottles of the new formula hoping I was wrong, but they all have a very strong floral undertone to them. Thanks to the Scent Pearls, this smell lingers in the dryer and in my clothes for a long time. If it was the old, wonderful Downy smell that I've loved so much I would be thrilled, but since I can't stand strong floral smells it looks like I'll be hunting for a new fabric softener as soon as my last bottle of the old formula is gone. Its sad, my best friend of over 20 years once told me that the scents that she associated with me were Downy and vanilla. Q.Will Ultra Downy irritate my skin or cause allergic reactions?
A.Ultra Downy should not irritate skin or cause allergic reactions for most people. However if you find yourself affected, we do have a dermatologist-tested Downy that’s free of dyes or perfumes. Learn more about Ultra Downy Free & Sensitive.
Q.Does Ultra Downy affect the drying time of fabrics?
A.Nope, your dryer settings are the only thing that should affect drying time. Try upping the spin cycle of your machine if your laundry is drying too slowly.
Q.Will Ultra Downy stain my clothes?
A.All fabric softeners do run a small risk of staining. To prevent staining, be sure not to pour undiluted fabric softener directly onto fabrics. Here are some ways to remove fabric  softener stains if they do occur:
  • Nonwashable fibers  — Dampen the stain with water and rub gently with bar soap (avoid deodorant soap) or a liquid laundry detergent like Tide. Rinse thoroughly, and then blot excess liquid and allow to dry.
  • Washable fibers  — Again, dampen the stain with water and rub gently with bar soap (avoid deodorant soap) or a liquid laundry detergent like Tide. Rinse thoroughly, and then send fabrics through the wash again.
