"I hate the Downey Ball. The only reason why I keep using it is because I don't have the time to babysit my washing machine so I can add the fabric softener. It stains my clothes and doesn't open half of the time. I highly recommend using Dawn to remove the stains, works awesome!! "Icky Residue" May 06,2010
"After using the Downey Ball for a long period of time, a thick softener/clothers fiber residue sticks to the inside of the ball. How do I clean off the gooey residue? This residue affects the operation of the ball because it sticks to the stopper and causes it to get heavier and therefore releases the softener during the wash cycle." - Residue, Texas

"I have used the Downy Softener ball for several years and really love it! I can put the liquid in the ball, drop it in and forget about it. No sheets to fall all over my laundry room floor or clog mym dryer, no sticky feeling from the sheets, I don't have to remember to come back and pour softener into the washer at rinse. I really love it! BUT I have moved and cannot find a place to buy a new one! Dear Downy Folks: PLEASE HELP! The stores you recommended, from the closest to the farthest, do not have it! "downey ball" March 19,2010
"My husband purchased me two Downey Balls. I filled the first one with downey to the proper fill line. When I took it out of the washer it did not open up to release the softner. So I took the second ball and took the softner out of the other ball and put it into the other ball, well the other ball worked, then on the second load of laundry it did not work. Now why would it work for one load of laundry and not the second load? My washer and dryer are in the basement and I am not going to keep going up and down the stairs to reset the washer to put in the softner, I might as well go back to the Bounce bar, put it into the dryer and forget it. Now are you going to refund me the money that I paid out for these two downey balls? I purchased them at the Walmart store in Pulaski, Tennessee." - dbeach7908, tennessee

"I made sure my daughter had one while she was in college. She always said one of her favorite things about laundry was the smell of Downy in freshly laundered clothes. Although her dorms always had laundry facilities, it wasn't where she wanted to hang out while waiting for the rinse cycle. She said the Downy ball was an awesome invention for college students! "I have been using the Downy Ball pretty much since it came on the market. I don't have time to listen to my washing machine for the rinse cycle. Four kids (five if you count my husband) and two grandchildren keep me way too busy for that.
